UK Atomic Energy Authority joins BeST

The UK Atomic Energy Authority joins the Beryllium Science & Technology Association as a new associate member.


UKAEA researches fusion energy and related technologies with the aim of positioning the UK as a leader in sustainable nuclear energy. The UKAEA is an executive non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy.


The UKAEA has hosted the Joint European Torus (JET) since its design started in 1973. First operation was in 1983 and since then it has set world records for plasma performance.

The inside of the JET machine is lined with Beryllium.
