On 19 December 2016, the Risk Management Option Analysis (RMOA) on Beryllium conducted by Germany’s Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA – Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin) was published on the European Chemical Agency’s (ECHA) website.

The RMOA encourages the establishment of a harmonised Occupational Exposure Limit (OEL) for Beryllium while stressing the disadvantages of a Restriction under the REACH legislation.

BeST welcomes the main conclusion of the RMOA not to put Beryllium on the candidate list of Substances of Very High Concern. BeST supports an EU harmonized OEL, insofar it will be protective and feasible.
