RoHS: BeST participates in RoHS Pack 15 Stakeholder Conference

On 27 April, BeST participated in the RoHS Pack 15 Stakeholder Conference. The conference was hosted by the Öko Institute, the consulting group commissioned by the European Commission to conduct substance specific assessments under the RoHS Directive. During the conference, BeST was invited to give comments on the final substance report dedicated to beryllium and beryllium compounds.

BeST continues to endorse and support the recommendation made by the Öko Institute not to restrict beryllium and its compounds under RoHS and appreciates that some previous comments have been taken in to account.

However, BeST feels that the final version of the report still contains lacking and inaccurate information. Several areas of the report consist contradictory statements, speculative language and little supporting scientific evidence.
