BeST would like to outline some important scientific factors that need to be considered when deriving an occupational exposure limit (OEL) for Beryllium.
In order to protect workers from developing Chronic Beryllium Disease, maximum levels of airborne-Beryllium in the workplace should not be exceeded. The debate on which is the right level must consider a number of key aspects, such as different sampling methods for airborne beryllium, as distinguished by particle size, and conversion factors between these methods.
